Nope, not two nearby cities, actually it may be more accurate to call it a two-country solution.
The Tampa Bay Rays received permission from Major League Baseball’s executive council to explore a plan in which they would play early-season home games in the Tampa Bay area and the remainder of the year in Montreal, sources familiar with the situation told ESPN.
I don’t know why we can’t call baseball in Tampa a failed experiment and look for another city for them to move. I guess the nostalgia of the Expos could generate some interest, but there are no more Expos for a reason too.
Could it work to just take two cities that didn’t really fully support a full season of MLB games, and give them each part of a season instead?
I kind of doubt it myself, but hey look at old stuffy baseball thinking outside of the box!
Would you root for a team that was only “part-time” in your local area?
