Certainly an interesting trade, sending Halak, Chris Stewart, prospect William Carrier and two draft picks.
The question I have for St. Louis is this. Are we even sure at this point in their respective careers that Miller is an upgrade on Halak, or that Ott is an upgrade on Stewart? Sure, St. Louis has been a playoff disappointment the last couple of years, but they’ve lost to Los Angeles both times, one of the best defensive teams in all of the NHL. Maybe it wasn’t goaltending, but that LA is just better defensively than St. Louis has been up to this point.
I guess we’ll find out, but obviously the Blues see this as being their best shot and are all-in on winning the Cup this year.
