Another Act of Violence After a Game

Yet another case of fan violence occurred after the Broncos and Chargers game on Thursday night.

We’ve seen this story before, whether it’s at college football games, baseball games, etc. Has sports become something that has us killing each other over slights, arguments, and rivalries? I know there have always been incidents like this, but it seems to me like it’s becoming almost commonplace to find out that someone was stabbed, beaten, or killed at a game every week. Is this what we have become as a society? Have we reached a point where sports are in fact the games of Roman times? Where we don’t care about the health of players, so long as we get some good violence, and then we’ll take our frustrations out when things don’t go our way on opposing fans as if the games extend outside of the arena as well?

If so, shame on us.
